Spectator information

The Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation invites you to commemorate the 148th Cedar Creek Weekend.  This once in a lifetime event is something your friends and family won’t want to miss!

  • View large scale battle reenactments with over 4,000 Civil War reenactors in uniform.  Smell the gun smoke from thousands of muskets and hear the roar of cannon!

  • See history come to life in the military and civilian camps.  Meet living historians portraying actual people from the past.  Talk to the men about their weapons and equipment, or to their wives about life on the homefront.  Try on a uniform, help set up a tent or take a turn cooking over the open fire.

  • View demonstrations of military equipment and tactics.  Learn how many steps it took to load and fire a musket.  Find out about different kinds of cannon and how far they could shoot.  Hear about the feeding and care of horses (and men!).  See the grisly reality of treating battle injuries and illness.

  • Watch blacksmiths, woodworkers, tailors, gunsmiths, and other historic craftsmen ply their trades.

  • History buff?  Visit the symposium tent for in-depth presentations on a variety of Civil War topics.

  • Like to shop? Take a stroll along sutler row!  This “Civil War mall” hosts a variety of shops offering uniforms, dresses, quilts, hats, books, and other memorabilia.

  • Hungry?  Stop at the modern concession area and enjoy corn dogs, fries, kettle corn, and other tasty fare.

  • Don’t forget to visit the souvenir tent, where you’ll find collectables, apparel, and other unique gifts to remember your visit for years to come!

Cedar Creek Weekend has something for everyone!
